Mine Planning, Design and an overall review of Afghanistan's Mining industry

Mining mapping and modelling is an insubstantial and classical method in Afghanistan. Due to 40 years consecutive war in Afghanistan the mining industry remained unevolved and many of them mined illegally. And in some areas gemstones like Lapis Lazuli and Emeralds smuggled illegally to Iran and Pakistan from many feudal areas that The Government of Afghanistan and MOMP couldn’t impede their illegal mining. Furthermore, the mining industry is unprofessional in Afghanistan and to develop this industry we need investments and funds. A country like Afghanistan will be unable to own and buy mining machineries. It will cost billions dollars to invest in machinery, but to break through this problem we need to bolster our business and political relations with other developed countries and request them to invest here and improve this industry. I would like to illuminate the aforementioned statements, For Example When the Industrial Revolution took place in UK a 100 years ago it spread widely to other EU countries it can be a good example for us to move on. The endless  war  affected the mining industry but our vision is to move on and realize that how important Mining industry can change our economy. The next economic generation of Afghanistan will be independent if we train Geologist and Mining Engineers skillfully. If we follow the modern rules of mining industry then Afghnaistan will be an economically independent country. The First step toward stabilizing our country’s economy is mining industry. Statistics shows that the mines of Afghanistan worth more than 1.8 trillion dollars (Aerial Photography BY USA).

Standrad Strategies and Goals

Many Miners and Geologist lost their lives due to lack of experience and weak management. In addition, a wide amount of these ores and mines wasted for not being purified, managed, mapped and designed well. GEOAF Aims to work on a pervasive vision which is to change and digitalize Afghanistan’s mining industry into a professional and well-managed process using Geovia Surpac, GIS and ArcGIS which can be a good step for bringing evolvement in this industry.  We have also planned to open training camps for Mining Engineers and Geologists to learn and realize the importance of these Softwares in their field and get acquainted with.

Mapping, Modelling of Mines and Afghanistan’s Mining Industry

In other developed countries like Australia, USA, UK and SA which are the pioneers of evolving and interconnecting technology with mining industry, these Softwares are not new to them. These countries invest on its own natural recourses and manage it professionally using contemporary technology. Personally I attended many Zoom conferences about the importance of mapping and modelling mines in mining industry. A mine which is designed well it can assure miners and workers lives and without designing a mine’s map it can cause waste of ores, minerals and even can be fatal for miners and workers. Software’s like GEOVIA Surpac , GIS and ArcGIS are a vital part of mapping and modelling mines in this industry but unfortunately these are unknown softwares among Geologist and Mining Engineers in Afghanistan .

The Importance of Mapping in Mining Engineering

Minerals, ores, oil and Gas contains many chemical substances that are really harmful for miners even theses harmful Gases and substances can cause death. Ventilation is like a bedrock in Mining industry as it is in Geology. Therefore, using these softwares helps us to design a mine from many different aspects like ventilation, safety, underground’s light and gateways in case a natural disaster come off. These softwares are being used since many decades in other countries but unfortunately it is new in our country. Therefore, as we mentioned above our sole aim is to interconnect Mining with Technology.
